| The new world coyote (Canis lupus, Canidae), the jackal of the new world, did not go down with the loss of the Pleistocene megafauna. It is one of the few species of cadaver-users that survived this event, probably in great part due to its extremely general diet (which contains large amounts of fruit - and coyotes are major seed dispersers). | ||
