But does the entire snake need be a mimic? Boa constrictor (Boidae) displays a very fine example. The snake above is unarguably cryptic in its world of litter on the ground. And the end that the boa wants most not to be seen is the cryptic end (ones head is the least desirable part to lose to a predator). But, study the snake carefully, and then look at the following image.
