The Rhinoclemys flipped over - as would do an exploratory predaceous bird or mammal - is hardly more than a loop of coral snake. When newborn, hardly more than 3 cm wide, such a turtle would be a handy meal for both birds and mammals. With increased age, it is likely that mammals would be more important than birds, again indicating the importance of testing wild mammals that have never had the opportunity to meet a coral snake. |
