Not surprisingly, the Nepenthes insect catcher-digester in image DHJanzen100386.jpg above has evolved into something analogous to epiphytic bromeliads with their aerial swamps (or is it vice versa). Here scattered across the Malaysian rainforest floor (with, again, a white sand soil underneath), among the leaves are the individual swamp pitchers of Nepenthes ampullaria (Nepenthaceae).
