And not just pigeons and doves. Weaver birds - their fine nests photographed here in India - are seed-eating finches, specializing at grass seeds on open grasslands, and occurring originally in flocks of millions. They would have had a field day on bamboo seeds, taking them directly from the infrutescences before they ever got to the ground-bound seed predators. |
