This is the entire set of Epiencyrtus (Encyrtidae) hyperparasitoids reared from a single Enicospilus larva. One large wasp converted into 400+ very small wasps. In nature, all of these would have gone off in search of a parasitized Rothschildia lebeau in which to complete their development. Almost none would have been successful, but those few that were produce enormous numbers of offspring. There are many ways to skin a cat. |
