| When peccary dung is washed carefully into its invidividual parts, it becomes clear that different species of seeds are treated differently by this animal. At the top is a normal peccary turd. On the upper right are figs (spheres) and Manilkara seeds (dark brown flat ovals) that were major food of this particular animal. One large turd carefully washed into its respective parts yielded three dishes of material. On the far right is the fibrous remains of leaves and stems. On the far left are the fragments of Manilkara seed coats, and in the middle are the remains of the figs (see DHJanzen100837.jpg and DHJanzen100838.jpg below). | ||
