The view from what was the old beaver house site (today a small island in a wide spot in the river) in what was the beaver pond three years before, looking through the channel carved by spring floods through the beaver dam, downstream into what was the next pond down stream. Note the leafless grayish edible broad-leafed trees growing up along the margin of the old downstream pond, next to the inedible conifers.
