Bees do not always make their own wax for their nest cells. Here a large bumblebee-sized Eulaema bee robs nest material from a Trigona social bee nest in a Costa Rican rainforest. Nest material already stolen is packed onto the hind leg of the bee hovering in the air. The nest material itself is sticky plant resins collected by the Trigona bee from an unknown species of tree. |
