Seal Island as seen from the top of the lighthouse in image DHJanzen101265.jpg. White spruce, white spruce and more white spruce (Picea glauca, Pinaceae). In fact, prior to European settlement there was just a single species of tree on this island, while on the mainland a few tens of kilometers away there are at least ten species of trees (including white spruce).
