| Twelve months after the experiment was set up, a representative plant from the experimental plot is figured above. The 60 cm stump is entirely visible. The only way that this plant is not representative is that it is still alive. Over half of the stumps died from continuous defoliation of their sucker shoots and from shoot borers attacking the stump directly. This is what happens when the ant-acacia has no protection from acacia-ants. | ||
